Barbara Lockee

Professor of Instructional Design and Technology at Virginia Tech

Dr. Barbara Lockee is the Associate Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs and Professor of Instructional Design and Technology in the School of Education at Virginia Tech. She is also the Vice President of the International Academic Forum (IAFOR), Chair of the Education and Language Learning Division of the International Academic Advisory Board (IAAB), and Reviewer for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). She holds a BA in Communication Arts and an MA and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. She has taught courses in distance education, instructional design, and professional development. Her research interests focus on instructional design and technology-mediated learning. She has written over 80 papers in journals and conferences, and she has presented her research findings to over 90 national and international conferences. In her recent co-authored book, Streamline ID: A practical guide to instructional design, Lockee addresses both the needs of novices as well as experienced Instructional Designers and presents an enhanced version of the classic ADDIE model.
