Alison A. Carr-Chellman


Dr. Alison A. Carr-Chellman serves as the Dean of the School of Education and Health Sciences at the University of Dayton. She earned her master’s and bachelor's from Syracuse University. She has a Ph. D in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, Bloomington. Dr. Carr-Chellman has worked in instructional design for over 30 years, focusing on human performance improvement. She has written six books and over 120 articles. Dr. Carr-Chellman began her career serving as a third-grade and Kindergarten teacher. She then moved away from traditional teaching when she wanted more innovation and change within the school system. She began her work as an instructional designer, author, and educator. She taught for 22 years at Penn State University at the College of Education, primarily at the doctoral level, to support new teachers. Her research projects include “Bring Back the Boys,” looking at ways gaming can be used to re-engage boys in elementary education. More recent research focuses on public policy.
