Youngkyun Baek
Professor of Education Technology
Dr. Youngkyun Baek, Professor of Education Technology at Boise State University, boasts an impressive academic background, earning not one but two Ph.D.s throughout his career. His first was in Educational Sociology from Korea University with the dissertation, Using Color, Graphics, and Animation in a Computer-Assisted Learning Tutorial Lesson. A decade later, he earned his second Ph.D. in Educational Foundations from Georgia State University with the dissertation, An Analysis of communications in two cyberspace learning communities.
Dr. Baek’s expertise in game-based learning is evident in his extensive body of work. He has authored and edited numerous books, chapters, journal articles, conference presentations, and research papers focused on learning technology, particularly in game-based learning. Additionally, his proficiency in computer programming languages and tools has allowed him to help develop about 20 educational computer program games.
Dr. Baek’s areas of interest are in mobile games and game-based learning, with a recent interest in cyber security of AI in education.
