Dr. Donald P. Ely

Dr. Ely (1930-2014) was a professor of instructional technologies at Syracuse University. He received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and speech and drama from State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany before going on to earn both a master’s degree in audiovisual communication and a doctorate in audiovisual communication and psychology from Syracuse University. Dr. Ely’s research centered on the philosophy, frameworks, and diffusion of educational technology at home and abroad. He served a number of directorships at Syracuse prior to his retirement in 1995 and sat on the editorial boards of the British Journal of Educational Technology and the Revista de Tecnologia Educativa, among others.
