David Rose
CAST Co-Founder & Chief Education Officer of CAST, Emeritus
Dr. David Rose is a retired developmental neuropsychologist and educator whose work inspired the conception of the Universal Design for Learning framework. He promotes using technology to improve education for all learners, regardless of ability or disability. Dr. Rose has a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master’s in Teaching, and a Doctorate in Education. In 1984 he co-founded the nonprofit CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology), whose mission is to “transform education design and practice until learning has no limits” (CAST - Until Learning Has No Limits®, 2022). Dr. Rose has served as an educational consultant for Houghton-Mifflin, Scholastic, EBSCO Publishing, and Pearson, among other companies. Though he officially retired in 2017, he still serves in an Emeritus role as a consultant for CAST and other organizations and as a lecturer at Harvard Graduate School, where he has taught for over 30 years.
