Matthew J. Koehler

Matthew J. Koeheler is a professor of educational psychology and educational technology at Michigan State University. He grafted from University of Wisconsin in 1999 with a Ph.D. in Educational psychology with an emphasis in Cognitive Psychology applied in education. Dr. Koeheler also holds degrees in COmputer Science and Mathematics. His research focuses on the understanding of pedagogy within newer technology and specifically within professional learning and development. He has interests in avenues how teachers can gain knowledge through new technologies such as social media to acquire new skills or understanding complex domains. This research has led him to be one of the co-founders of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) which is used to evaluate and characterize teachers that effectively integrate technology into teaching and learning.
