David H. Jonassen

Professor of Learning Technologies and Educational Psychology 

David H. Jonassen was a professor of Learning Technologies and Educational Psychology

at the University of Missouri. Dr. Jonassen’s work covered issues in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Mathematics education, Pedagogy and Learning theory. His Instructional design research incorporated elements of Constructivist teaching methods, Hypermedia, Epistemology, Constructivism and Task analysis. His Educational technology research was multidisciplinary and relied on Cognitive Psychology, Cooperative Learning, Teaching Method, Domain Specificity, and Variety.

David H. Jonassen produced at least 37 books, 180 journal articles, 64 book chapters, 12

Dr. Jonassen earned a Doctor of Education degree from Temple University, as well as Master of Education from the University of Delaware.

In 2013, Dr. Jonassen was selected to become a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association and was the first recipient of the AECT’s David H. Jonassen Award for Excellence in Research, an award established in his honor.
