Sheryl Burgstahler
Director of Accessible Technology Services and Founder of the DO-IT Center and UW-IT Access Technology Center, University of Washington
Sheryl Burgstahler is currently an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington and an online faculty member of courses in Disability Studies at CUNY. She primarily researches in the fields of Universal Design for Learning, accessibility, disability, and online learning. Dr. Burgstahler holds a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and Education, a Master’s in Mathematics, and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Policy, Governance, and Administration of Higher Education. She is the Founder and Director of the DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and Technology) Center and the IT Accessibility Team at UW. She also is the Chair of the UW-IT Accessibility Task Force. She has delivered more than 200 presentations internationally and has won several awards, including the Leadership in Equity and Inclusion in Online Learning award from the Online Learning Consortium and the Diversity in Technology Leadership Award from the National Alliance of Partnerships in Equity (NAPE).
