Rodney R. Cocking (1943-2002)

Dr. Robert Cocking was a phycologist who made a great impact in his field. At 59, he was a researcher for the National Science Foundation when he was brutally murdered.  His loss to the research community was devastating. 

He earned a graduate degree in clinical psychology and a doctorate from Cornell in Human Development and Family Studies. His work was based on cognitive theory, and he was passionate about the development of ALL children. He studied at-risk populations and their achievements in mathematics and advocated for more research in under-represented populations. He studied the impacts of children's cognitive development and their interactions with various forms of media.
