Dr. Richard E. "Rick" West is a Professor in the Instructional Psychology and Technology department at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He earned his PhD in Instructional Technology from the University of Georgia. He also holds an M.S. in Instructional Psychology and Technology from Brigham Young University. His research interests focus on "21st century approaches to teaching and learning," emerging technologies, online learning communities, badging and microcredentials, and effective use of technology in education. West co-developed the PICRAT framework for technology integration in the classroom. He is a long-time member of AECT and has held various leadership positions in the organization. W
