Linda Harasim 

Linda Harasim is a PhD alumna of the University of Toronto. Dr. Harasim has had a profound career in the field of educational technology. The most notable of her accomplishments include: the development of the educational learning theory Collaboratism, creation of the first course at the University of Toronto conducted exclusively online in 1986, and design of the Virtual-U software. Dr. Harasim has been an advocate for women in education and a trailblazer in the field, beginning her work in online education before the internet was ubiquitous. While currently considered to be one of the leading experts in online education, she continues to expand her research into the use of AI and AR/VR in education. Dr. Harasim is currently a professor at Simon Fraser University. 

Her area of focus is on Online Collaborative Learning (OLC), also known as collaborativism.

In 1995 she founded the TeleLearning Network Centre of Excellence (TL*NCE), which funded hundreds of research projects.
